As always, knowing where you want to go makes it easier to figure out how to get there. I keep a little sticker somewhere in the car (it's out there now, in fact) to help me keep straight which is which, but the idea is the same: push the car in a safe place and see how it reacts, then adjust pressures to get where you want. I "think" the mantra is: "to reduce understeer, increase rear pressures; to reduce oversteer, decrease rear pressures."
Your car's trim will depend, in part, on how you load it: I don't pull out of the driveway without a couple of GI tool bags, loaded neatly above the rear axle; others strip the car bare before they hit the road. So load up as suits you, find an empty department store parking lot and find out how she handles at the limits of adhesion, then tweak til you get to where you want to be. Autocrossers often chalk the tread and sidewalls to see what's scrubbing and what's just along for the ride.
Enjoy.
It's time to mount up the snows here. Wish I was in the Rockies instead of the midwest. Sigh. It's a gig.
