... the 225hp at the wheels I quoted for the first run was based on the operator telling me (disbelievingly!) that with the smaller plug gaps, it achieved another 15hp at the wheels, and from his comment at the end that the 305bhp runs produced 240bhp at the wheels (he never directly told me the wheel hp for the first run).
Of course that 15hp was probably a rough figure and could have been anywhere from just over 10 to just under 20. If it was nearer 20hp, then the drivetrain loss comes out about the same. Figure in some variation in measurement of drivetrain loss from one run to the next and it all sounds fairly plausible to me.
