Hmm...
I don't think you can say that a standard car will produce what Saab claim under all conditions, with turbo engines being so sensitive to conditions. US dynos should correct the figures to the relevant SAE standard. My figures were DIN, (so are Saab's, as quoted here in the UK anyway). I believe the relationship between SAE and DIN Even if this were so, I think the jump from 16% to 7% is a bit big to explain by even a significantly more efficient transmission.
Anyway, I'm not so much interested in "calculated flywheel hp" as horsepower at the wheels. If Zeke and others with similarly-modded Aeros and Zip with his standard Aero can obtain wheel-hp figures to compare, I think it will be a better comparison. I don't want to get into the debate of whether it was over or under 300hp, as that isn't what interests me. What does interest me is whether my car is performing as well as it should be given the modifications I have made.
Anyway, calculated figures will be of no use if my colleague finally gets his M3 (343bhp, 268lbft in UK spec) and I can't beat him from a rolling start. Not as daft as it sounds - remember my fat torque curve.
I might even pay to have him put it on the same dyno as I used, just to see the shape of the curves.
