Gary - with all your track time you should have considered/learned about weight transfer right?
A wide-track car (same total weight, same tires, same speed, same corner) will transfer less weight to the outside tires than a car with a narrow-track.
In the same way, a car with a lower cG will transfer less weight to the outside tires than a car with a higher cG.
Excessive weight transfer (at any time) is considered bad! In the case of cornering, this is realized in two ways: Weight transfer to the outside tires does increase their immediate traction, but the traction limits are approached faster. The load transfer away from the inside tires reduces their traction -- so they lose a portion of their potential grip. Because of the way tires work, you are losing traction on the inside faster than you are recouping it on the outside, so total traction is going down with weight transfer.
