TB coolant bypass mod thoughts/questions

Hello all,
A while back I went out to Home Depot to build a little on/off valve for the throttle body coolant bypass modification for my 1990 SPG. (A picture of the valve is below).
After really thinking about the device, how it works to shut the coolant flow on and off seasonally (open the valve in the winter so the throttle plate wouldn't freeze shut or open, and then close it in the summer to keep the hot coolant away), I got to thinking...
The top coolant line is the 'IN' line, and the lower (closest to the ground) is the 'OUT' line, returning the coolant back into to the block.
The common practice for this modification is to completely remove the OUT line, and put the throttle body side of the IN line to where the engine side of the OUT line goes. Basically, there are no more lines going to the throttle body and you just make the coolant recirculate back to where it came from.
With the valve... I'm starting to see some problems before I even install it...
Please correct me if I am wrong...
-The coolant is pressurized
-The coolant will flow in any open orafice that it has access to
If I would add the on/off valve to the IN line (still keeping the OUT line intact), then would there still be coolant entering the OUT line, up into the throttle body, and pushing against both sides of the valve? In other words, does it look like I would need two seperate on/off valves to keep coolant out of the throttle body?
OR would the valve stop the coolant flow entirely when it is turned to the off position? Hence, the OUT line simply does not allow coolant to travel backwards back up to the throttle body.
I'd love to hear what you guys think. I'm glad I didn't spend the 10 minutes to pop it in before I thought about it. Laziness does pay off ( :
Thanks in advance,
Taylor
90 SPG
RIP Kyle & Tim
