But, before you spend a ton o' time and effort, have you done everything mechanically possible to make the car quicker? There are some serious C900 fanatics here (and I mean that in a good way!) who have tweaked the APCs, maximized the output of the turbos, squeezed all the horses from the 4-banger that they possibly could. This probably the route you should go down...
Also...if you're thinking about autocrossing, you'd need the seat to conform with SCCA rules, unless you did some SERIOUS engine mods and were in a prepared or modified class...Your total weight savings would probably be in the neighborhood of 40-50 pounds, most of it from the seat...
And, even through you don't use your SPG for much hauling, there will come a day when you'll appreciate the load carrying capacity of your Swedish pickup truck. I once fit a refrigerator in my 86 900T...blew the mind of the guy at the appliance store....
