OK, I def. will check the aid unit. Thanks to groper and jak. Which leads me to question number two.
I blew apart my trans in second gear last year. I mean, the case basically exploded on the pass. side. The crack starts infront of the inner driver and goes all the way around the diff. cover. I did the aid mod about a month before that happened. I also did rework my homemade short shifter.
A long story short-after the trans blew, I was able to pull the shifter rod out of the "socket" due to the pin working itself loose. Now, keep in mind this is a 1990 SPG with these mods-lightened flywheel, 3.0 fpr, egr removed, ecu upgraded to a 948 unit, open air k&n and self modded apc box with 16lb max, tapering back to 12-13 lbs.
So, I guess my question is can the aid making the torque curve "load up" at low rpms, or did the shifter cause something to collide within the trans?
This was an errikkson rebuild with 24,000 miles. No pre-warning, just a pretty loud thud. The trans is out of the car and will not shift.
So, any suggestions on keeping this new trans alive? Without knowing the numbers the aid is working at, I think I should check out what is going on. I am running 20 BTDC, and the car does pull pretty hard, esp before the turbo kicks in, with a much improved decline in lag. This may or maynot have anthing to do with the trans, but I am running a large rally skidplate under this car, so maybe heat is a factor in this too?
thanks ,
KO
