I agree with Brad on the ethics. I hope that all of my posts here in this thread don't reflect in anyway that Saab is responsible for Stev's tuning. I don't think that the dealer should pay for the problem, if they have proof that it was modified. I am mostly concerned in the tuning issue, when it comes to the 235 in general. It kinda makes me nervous knowing that you can spend a lot of money on good software and quality components,(that will easily set you back $3-5k), only to have a piston break at an 18% power increase. If what Vigge said about the pistons in Sweden being different and changing year to year is accurate, maybe SCUSA doesn't know about the problem yet, due to so few Saab tuners out there pushing the envelope in late model warrantable cars? Maybe there is a chance of defect in some of those early pistons?
I kinda doubt that Steve really thinks in his heart that SCUSA is responsible for his engine. He is probably just very frustrated at the idea that so many of us here have tuned our cars way up, and never have any major problems, but now he has a major expense to swallow and down-time to deal with. I guess I just feel sorry for Steve. Scusa is usually very supportive, maybe if Steve does the engine work there, he can get a dealer loaner still. I suppose that it's better than nothing.
