I will also agree with Chad about one very possible factor: There are many people at SCUSA that I know for a fact read this bulletin board. I wouldn't rule out a mole here. It just doesn't make sense any other way, especially when you consider that Saab knew all to well that early Viggen's and Aero's were cracking pistons in higher elevations with lower octane gas due to "overboost/pinging". There was a lot of discussion about this not too long ago here. Saab knew about that problem, and they covered it under warranty. If it's under warranty and the dealer won't fix it, it's only because someone that you trusted ratted you out, at least that is my opinion. Think about it, I have seen them cover engines that have never had there oil changed, just because they were possibly looking at buying another Saab. Either way, I'm sorry that this happened to you, but Nick R is right, Go with a set of JE's slugs, upgrade the rods, and give it hell.
