This afternoon I took a harder look at my lucky find and:
This car has a stock Saab air cleaner in it with a Saab part number!
Under closer inspection the exhaust still looks to be all original and includes the flex-pipe, resonator (1st muffler), stock looking rear muffler, and stock looking cat all in the stock positions.
Runs were made on a full tank of 93 Premium, from Shell I think, and without any octane booster or other trickery.
The boost gauge never gets into the red section of the gage. Although after talking to an expert on the phone today I learned, as Steve88SiS noted, that the 7 cars have gauges that measure boost derived from a torque equation--not direct and actual actual boost pressure levels.
I haven't removed the ECU to inspect-it but what's the point? I may be wrong but I don't think just a chip would do what this car is doing at the wheels--at least not for very long. I talked to the Porsche shop where it was dynoed and, all going as planned, I'll be picking-up the digital version of the runs on CD so I'll be able to view it with the DynoJet Viewer software. I'm also going to check their calibration date, although I'm sure their equipment is fine, and the the MPH of the 1/4 mile supports their reading...
Thanks for all the replies!
Dosen't anyone else have any stock vs. tuned 1/4 mile or dyno runs?
Oh, and yes, I do need all that HP. In fact I still need more! :)
