1) get track experience .... my auto-x times dropped after each visit to a big track for 'driver's ed.'

2) walk to course, several times, and burn in an image of the layout. must expect ea corner, not react to it.

3) get xtra wheels and R-tires .... wider is usually better in autox. Even 245-45-17 are available. Toyo RA1 will have most tread, Yok A032, then Kuhmo. Auto-x will shread your $$$street tires. You may be able to use 1/4" spacers, to increase track ... esp up front.

4) Rescue kit is mostly not allowed in stock class. You can shim under the front bar pivots to loosen them, and get less understeer. Also increase neg camber up front.

5) Porterfield R4S pads have great cold friction, if available, and work well with little dust on the street.
