In most of the world (and the US military and some engineering communities too) dates are abbreviated as DD/MM/YY. Unfortunately, dates are most commonly abbreviated within the general populace of the US as MM/DD/YY.
The dates listed above as 12/2/04 and 12/7/04 are actually December 2nd, 2004 and December 7th, 2004. Only 5 days apart, not the 12th of February and 12th of July as the rest of the world would commonly write them.
