it has a bizarre spec I thik they say that you wrap a rope around the pinion housing & that it should take 10 lbs pull to unwrap it :-)
I just set them by feel you set them friggin tight but with a solid spacer you would either make the spacer too small & use shims or what Im gona do is make the spacer a little biger & use a file & a micrometer & remove material till the preload is corect rather than just tightening the nut to crush the sleave
