A few other possible things to check out.
Make sure that the bleed port on your MBC is not clogged. If air can't escape then the WGA cannot close the WG. Porbably is fine, but worth the check.
I have installed 3 MBC+A kits on the auto tranny and helped tune them. I know the auto was more difficult to tune the MBC closer to the fuel cut being that the autobox keeps the turbo spinning much more in between shifts compared to the manual tranny. But even with that said most get the tires chirping somewhere along the line. The auto is slower off the line with the MBC and MBC+A than the manual but I just took that as a sign of typical autobox behavior even when the MBC was tuned right below max.I think the auto has a torque converter in the transmission that might be slower to respond.
You would definitely know when you hit a fuel cut. The car will jerk and your boost will drop.
With the automatic, I found tat fuel cuts can happen in wierd places with the use of the MBC. If one slams the pdel down in lower gears, cuts can happen way before your rpms are high and way before your boost guage will be near max. Not sure what that is about, but you'll have to find the sweet spot once you've pushed the MBC to its limit. 1/4 in the red is pretty close to max. might be able to raise it slightly but without the +a, you always be compensating for the overshoot problem especially in the colder temps.
