Presumably my car pinged- a lot. I didn't ever hear it, and having spent some time tuning turbo cars with weaker internals than Saabs, I know what to listen for. There is no check engine light for a MAF that underestimates the air quantity ingested into the engine. It would seem that one periodically needs to go to a significant amount of trouble to verify their A/F ratio is correct in order to keep thier stock T7 engine together. At a recent dyno day here I saw an A/F curve for a 9-5 Aero wagon that stayed up around 15:1. This car was stock. At the time I assumed that Saab had issued the car this way to generate high MPG figures and that T7 is adept and precise enough to run the car this way. I wish I had the Aero owner's contact info now, maybe I could save him some money in the future.
