I have 283K on my tranny...it has been rebuilt once by myself at 151K to replace original smaller pinion bearing. At that time I updated to a 1990 case which had been crashed at the front end, and swapped in my 1985 gearsets on to the good pinion shaft and diff. That was 8 years ago and I haven't had to touch it since. I use Amsoil racing synthetic...it costs $10/quart, but stands high temps and is a true gear oil with extreme pressure properties you do not get in engine oils. After 20000 I change it...it comes out clean...wonderful product!
