very interesting info :)
true, my opinion is just a opinion which I developed from blowing 7+ trannies in a few years using various motor oils. I think it was Townsend that usues amsoil exclusivly in their cars & I tried it for a day. The syncro's just didn't like that stuff so I then switched to BG from the suggestion of a master saab tech at a local dealership. It helped however I then heard pinion whine on the rebuilt trans. Finally I listend to a few people here & tried MTL which cured all my problems I was having with the rebuilt trans & it lasted for over 50K miles :)
I unfortunantly forget exactly whick amsoil fluid I used, whatever Townsend suggested to me
With Mobil 1, it's also been several years thus I forget what I used.
I also wasn't aware that when saab determined what fluids to use it was motor oil 1 then everything else 2nd. Then again, it was how long ago that they determined what fluids to use & technology has come a LONG way since then.
& FWIW, Jorgen Eriksson suggests use Quaker State 2130 (I think) which is a 75w (???) gear lube for his trannies & states no motor oil
