The bearings are available, but do take some knowledge and care to install.
I say replace the bearing and you are good for another 100,000 miles.
If you have the original 35 amp alternator there isn't much excess to run fans, etc. of course a 55 amp model 99 alternator is an easy upgrade.
You could probably get a used front cover and put new bearing in it to save down time when changing. Yes, you have to remove the cover to replace the bearing<g>
