6" should fit, since a 185 tire is 7.28" wide. The reason I'm asking about the width though, is really about getting the 16" rims from Renault, that have the same bolt pattern but only come in 6" widths. The idea being that a taller rim allows one to run a lower profile tire. And having a wider rim is healthier for the 185mm tires, rather than having the sidewalls bulge when trying to squeeze an 185 or 195R15 onto a 4.5" wide rim.

Agree that offset is critical, I'm assuming the extra width should ideally be split between both sides of the current soccer ball offset.
