Brad, The steel wheels with wider rims that I have experience with are stock steel wheel centers removed from original rims and remounted/welded into new wider rims. I think this was fairly common 20+ years ago, but doesn't seem to be available now. I have 2 sets with 6" rims sourced used through Jack Ashcraft years ago. I also have a set used on a Saab 99 for racing.
I'm not familiar with cars using the same bolt pattern currently. 6" rims will work, but the offset of the mounting face of the center relative to the rim will be a deciding factor. This determines the position of the tire in the wheel well. Too much offset can be compensated with a spacer, but too little won't work at all.
