Saab had 5.5" wide steel rims for racing available through Saab Sport&Rally around 1969/1970. Basically the same center as the standard 4" wide standard steel rims but with a wider "pott" around it. They were called "Smaland wheels" as they were said to be produced in the swedish area calles Smaland.

I have a set of those and equipped with 185/65 R15 tyres it was a veeeeery tight fit on my Saab 96, especially in the back it was nearly impossible to mount them on the car. I had to bend out the lip of the wheel opening on the fender to squeere them in. Front was okay, but there also very tight fit and slightly touching the wheel house wall at full lock. Might fit better on a Sonett as the wheel opening is less restrictive.

I can hardly imagine that a 6" wide rim will fit in there, and I am pretty sure you will have contact here and there. Not the best way to go in my opinion.

And handling was not really good with so wide rims and tyres at least on the 96, so I went back to soccer ball rims and 155R15 racing tyres. Worked a lot better on tarmac rallys for me.
