That's crazy that they never rebalanced the crank and would also mismatch the balance shaft! But when you think about it, it wouldn't really matter on a race engine meant to last only so long. A fine balance isn't necessary in order to rev high. Let it shake all you want. As long as you're not planning on running it 100K miles.

It's more about the cam profile and valve train that lets you rev higher. Stiff springs and the right cam profile keeps those valves and pistons apart.

We're rebalancing for smooth operation. And we're re-profiling (along with SweedSpeed heads) the cam to a 7.2 in order to safely rev to 7,000. Not for racing, but just for fun, zippy driving kind of like Bob's goals. Hopefully this all works out . . . :-0

Is there a formula or guidance for adapting the balance shaft when you change the crank by 1/2 pound? You'd think that would be necessary?
