Hello, Everyone!

I recently acquired a 1973 Sonett 3 which needs a fair amount of work. This is my first ever project car and I'm equally excited and daunted by the amount of effort needed to get it running. The biggest issues I see are the rust and engine. There are rusty holes in the floor where the accelerator/brake/clutch pedals are and in front of the front cross brace where the seats bolt on. The engine is not seized (I can spin the fan manually with my hand) and the previous owner looks to have installed new wires to the distributor, so I'm hopeful on that front.

As part of the purchase I got a copy of a Chilton's repair and tune-up guide for SAAB; and a printout of Mark Ashcraft's V4 parts catalog. I also found on this site the service manuals (original and supplement) for the vehicle. These, along with a 154pc Kobalt Mechanics kit and helpful folks like yourselves, are my current assets.

Since I am novice when it comes to this sort of thing, I am looking for suggestions and feedback on my approach to fixing this thing. Here is what I have planned so far:

1. Get a car cover (already ordered, should arrive in the next couple days) so it's protected from the elements.
2. Apply a generous layer of rust conversion primer to the cabin floor and underside to prevent further deterioration of the chassis/metal parts.
3. Get the engine running--not really sure how to do that as of this posting :)
4. Rewire everything
5. Fix the interior
6. Cruise around!

What do you guys think?

I really appreciate any feedback and am excited to share my journey with everyone here.

Thanks for reading.
