...1974 Sonett that sat without gasoline since 1992.
The car starts and runs with Ether, so I have spark, timing, etc...
Added 4 gallons gasoline. No gasoline is getting to the carberator. I have a plastic (old) gasoline filter that seems to have been in the car a decade or two. It is dry. It is situated between the fuel pump and the carb. The car turns over. The gas guage reads 1/4 tank after fuel, and zero before adding the fuel. The gasoline was brand new. I will of course go out tomorrow and see if they still sell in line gas filters in case that is the blockage, but I really don't see how it could be. I will disconnect the fuel line to the fuel pump and see if it is "wet."
How often do fuel pumps fail? What is a source for replacements? As I recall they have metalic diaghrams, so I doubt this is a lacquer issue. Is there a filter interposed between the pump and the tank? If so, do they clog.
If this is a lacquer issue, I hope sitting over night will free up the problem.
Any advice out there?
TIA
