V4 rear crank seal (still) leaking

I'm looking for advice on stopping a persistant leak from the rear main seal. The seal didn't leak before I had the cylinders bored out. The shop needed the crank main bearing caps for boring alignment. A mishap during the rebore pulled the block out of alignment and necessitated overboring and then sleeving one cylinder. Since rebuilding the now .040 over 1500, the rear main continually leaks. I've now installed and replaced three different new seals and still have oil rapidly dripping out onto the flywheel and being slung off. The crank does not show any blemishes in the seal area. I've been using the seal installation steps as outlined in the V4 service manual. The manual does not instruct the use of any sealant so I have used none (so far). I'm intending to use sealant around the seal in the stationary surfaces this next (final?) time. I've also shortened the lip seal tension spring on one of these nearly new seals a few m.m. for a tighter fit to the rotating crank.
Are there any other "un"official steps that are likely to eliminate yet another re-occurrence of oil leaking. Is there a method of checking if the boring mishap distorted the rear main cap?
I'm resigned to the fact that I'll have to pull the engine yet again, but would like this to be the last time for a while.
