Startup problem [saabnow]
Posted by The Saab Network (more from The Saab Network) on Fri, 18 Jan 2002 23:16:30
Message from washedrobe Subject: Startup problem ================= I have a very perplexing problem. 1984 Saab 900, 5 speed. My car was running fine, took it for inspection and discovered it needed a rack and pinion. Rack and pinion replaced. Then my trouble started. The car would not start, had to have someone give me a jump, started up fine with the jump. Drove, parked, started. Drove, parked, wouldn't start. This continued with it starting sometimes not other times. Took it to be checked and found it had a bad battery. Changed the battery. Then had exactly the same problems. Noticed there was a bare patch on the battery cable. Fixed that. Problem continued. Then was told the starter was no good. Replaced that. While the starter was being replaced we noticed that the wire to the starter was damaged. So we fixed that too. Started up fine, drove it around. Parked, started up fine. Drove home. Tried to start the next morning. Couldn't start it and couldnąt jump start either. I don't even hear a click out of the starter, nothing but the slight whir of my fuel pump in the back of the car.
Any brilliant minds out there have some ideas. Greatly appreciated. Washed
