Bearing sound
Posted by CelticWolf (more from CelticWolf) on Wed, 3 Nov 1999 09:37:53
Hi all :-)

There's a loud bearing sound coming from the engine of my 85 900 TI. It
fluctuates only slightly with RPM change. I'm assuming it's the waterpump,
but could it be anything else?

Thanks,

'93 was the year of the updated design for the 9000 5 door, and the first year
of the Aero in the US. I've heard rumors of the '93s eating transmissions.
Other than that, one notable difference between the '93 and the '94 is that the
'93 (and earlier) had a nice, roomy glovebox. The '94s (and later) sacrafice
the entire thing for the passenger side airbag. From the statistics I've seen,
the addition of the passenger side airbag did not make a noticable improvement
in the safety record, so it may be prefereable to have one with a glove box.
