Clive,
regarding water pumps, the SAAB originals are made in Norway, and come as a
package with pump-related gaskets and o-rings (where applicable). No messy
silicone required on installation !
US dealers pay $49 for a 900 pump, and $80 for a 9000 2-liter pump.
Camelback SAAB in Phoenix, Arizona sells these (and all other original SAAB
parts) to SAAB Club members (NINES subscribers I guess) for 25% over their
cost, and offer a flat-rate 3-day fedex delivery service for $5 per order.
Stuff ships directly from the regional warehouse, so Camelback never
actually touches the stuff. Can't beat that.
Be sure to check the health of your A/C tensioner pulley bearing (if you
have A/C!) beofre throwing away your pump. If you're close to 100k miles,
change the pump. 900 pumps may give plenty of warning before they blow up,
but 9000 pumps sure don't !
