Saab does sell an option outside of the US which involves a separate Bluetooth enabled cellular phone that is integrated with the existing audio system. Voice commands will work with this set-up. Look at the videos that are link on the attached web page.

The reason that this does not work in the US is that cellular companies in the US do not sell secondary SIM chips for use with auto based phones. You would have to set up a separate number in order to do that here. More importantly, it would complete with OnStar, which is owned by GM (even though it is not avaliable currently on the 9-3).

GM certainly doesn't want us to have that option in the USA. Might cut into their future deal with Verizon to allow cellphone use with OnStar for $20/month.

I understand that the integrated cellphone is a pricy option overseas and not very many are sold.
