Hello
This is my first post. I live in Ottawa Canada. I apologise up front for the length of this post and all my questions. However, this is a very expensive car (at least for me) and I need all the help I can get.
I am looking for a car that will give me high performance, a manual transmission, the ability to tow a boat and trailer (about 900 kilos or 2000 pounds) and the Saab 2001 9-5 Aero seems to fit the bill. Only other choices seem to be the Volvo V70 T5, Audi A6 Avant and BMW 525.
Our local dealer has NEVER sold an Aero and doesn't stock them but can get one in from Toronto or Montreal.
I looked at his only 9-5 today, an SE sedan and I was very impressed with the interior, though the exterior doesn't do anything for me.
The wagon looks good and GMAC is offering $1,700 ($1,100US) lease cash back and a lease rate of 3.9% for 48 months or 1.9% for 36 months.
My Questions (please help)
1) For you Aero owners, I have read that the aero has a harsh ride versus other 9-5 models, - you opinions please.
2) I have read some reviews from owners with alot of reliability problems - how have the 2001 models been fairing?
3) 2002 seems to be bringing a number of changes including stability control. However, the lease incentives will probably only be for 2001 models. Should I wait for a 2002 and risk a much higher price.
4) Does anyone have experience with occasional towing?
5) I have read that the 5 speed is not as good as it should be. Opinions please?
6) Would anyone advise AGAINST an Aero wagon - if so why?
7) In Canada the MRSP for a fully loaded Aero with the ventilated seats is $60,580 Cdn - about $40,200 US. How much of a reduction in MRSP should I be able to get from SAAB.
8) Has anyone in Canada had very good or very bad experiences with service/warranty work?
9) Lastly, I hate rattles, squeeks etc that sometime develop months after taking delivery. My current car is an Acura TL 3.2 (2000) and I have alot of distracting creaks. How do Saabs stack up.
Thank you very much in advance.
