Hi. seems were in the same boat. I also have similar concerns (except for the towing part) regarding an Aero wagon or sedan here in Vancouver BC.
We also don't have any cars in the locally and are being offered the same $1700 off and the same lease rates. I guess this is a Canada wide program.
I have been talking to my dealer for a month or so about potential savings as the year ends. He has promised to get back to me anytime he hears of any further reductions, however, its September and nothing yet.
I drove a '01 Aero Wagon auto and it was very good. A little more generous in size compared to cars I've owned, but surprisingly nimble. Nice ride. If you don't mind less power, the same deal on a more affordable SE would really be a steal. But then, I don;t know about the towing capacity...
Keep me posted on your thoughts and decisions.
