I had a 9-5 ('99 for 94k miles) after several(5) 9000's. Initally I thought it was the "ultimate" Saab. The car simply never "grew" on me, like my 9000's. After about 18 months I couldn't wait for the lease to end. I went back to a '91 9kT, and loved every day of my 2 years and 60k.
Most here will say the 9-5 is far more "reliable". That was not my experience. That said the 9000's are all now quite old. My '91 simply required more attention than I can currently give a car. I drove a 9-5 again and decided to defect for a time.
I will continue to long for a new Saab with the same cache of the c900 and 9000. When that happens, I'll be back in a flash. Until that time, I'll drive Japanese, and enjoy simple motoring.
