Ok, I'm fully prepared to get bashed here. However, I've never slammed these cars. Remember these are MY opinions....

I've owned about 15 cars in my years of driving. When it was time to replace my wife's Infiniti G20 we looked at Maximas, A4s, and 9-3s. We loved the 9-3 and bought a new 02. It was an awesome car.

(fast forward 3 years to last year.) It was time to replace my Nissan so I looked at Acura TLs, Maximas again, but mainly had my eye on 9-5s. I bought a used 01 wagon. I loved it. I even raced out a bought new Aero wheels, tires, etc.... that love lasted for a week. In 3 months I had it in the shop 18 (yes, that is E I G H T E E N ) times and the dealer still couldn't fix some issues (search my posts). Then my neighbor who had a 01 sedan started having similar problems.... then someone else I knew! After 3 months of dealing with this I had to unload it -- or find a job where I don't have to show up. I traded it on a new Acura TSX and love it. It is similar size to the 9-5 and has a similar ride and performance. It's not a Saab, but I actually like it better in many ways.

(now fast forward 6 months) My wife's 9-3 was 4 years old and about to go out of warranty. With my TSX comfortably functioning, the 9-3 started to have problems (vibrations, fuel pump died -- actually leaked all over the car with family onboard, odd electrical things, etc).

Short of the story is she loves her new MDX and we won't be buying European again unless it is leased or there is a loooong warranty and a very nice service center. Again, I'm not poo-poo'ing Saab. IF I had a competent dealer in town they may have fixed all the problems in the first visit and I'd still be a Saab loyalist today.

Good luck.
