I beg to differ with you, but the official factory manual, the WIS gives all kinds of direction for adjusting Toe-in.
You CAN adjust rear toe-in.
I am looking at a section right now that says ADJUSTING REAR TOE ANGLE.
You loosen the two bolts on the trailing arm front and move the trailing arm to adjust the toe-in. You can also use fixture 89 96 795 that the dealer should have to make this easier.
Camber does not cause cupping. I have lots of camber on my Porsche and the tires wear more on the inside than the outside, but I get no cupping. Even with pretty soft compound tires I get no cupping.
My 2001 was fixed with ride height, new lateral bushings, and alignment.
Get a new mechanic or dealer. Rear toe can be adjusted.
