OK...thanks for the background. As this is my first 9-5 I was just surprised to find it was so different in this aspect than my 2000 9-3. (You get to know a car very well when it is your daily driver for 14 years.) One reason for starting this thread was to find out if there was some hidden issue with the fuel tank on this 9-5 or if somehow the 9-5's version of the SID had to be reset a certain way that I had not done yet.
I knew the mileage would be a bit less in the 9-5 than my 9-3, but the range on a tank of gas is significantly less when you need to fill up after only using 15 of 18 gallons. :-) Highway mileage on the 9-5 in the heat with A/C running the whole time was around 28-29 MPG on a recent trip, so that was OK.
