My 2 cents... to me it seems like every car ever made sits on full "forever" (I filled up the other day out of town, drove 100 miles, and it was still reading full) but as it gets around half it goes more quickly. I think it's in the geometry of the thing. It's a scam from the fuel companies so you think you are getting terrific mileage (for a while) then it drops precipitously. That being said, the computer readouts are good, and apparently adjustable which is really neat.
If I'm just driving my usual in-town, I try to fill up every Saturday (unless it's basically full). Otherwise, I try to not let it go below half. I think that also minimizes the effect of getting "bad" gasoline as it will mix 50/50 with the "good". The bottom line is, as they apparently come, when it's "empty" by DTE, you still have a couple gallons left. That works as long as you don't tell yourself "I still have 2 gallons" and just keep driving forever. Thanks to everyone for the great info!
