A/C Compressor Replacement - 03 ARC, Why Response Posted by tkell [Email] (#2189) [Profile/Gallery] (more from tkell) on Mon, 6 Jun 2016 08:38:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
03 9-5 ARC. Previous A/C Compressor replacement inquiry response: this 9-5 was involved in minor glancing blow while being driven by another family member. This accident knocked the headlamp and cornering lights outward, volleyball sized dent in hood, passenger side front fender, MAF sensor hose, EVAP lines, etc. This did not effect sub-frame. Additionally, it did require a new a/c condenser, line, drier, etc. During the course of repair, the A/C system was open for about 4 months. The goal is to get the Air Conditioner performance up to a level of blowing ice cold air. The car is driven in the west TN area where it gets very hot and humid during the summers. Just last month a new condenser was installed. One week later it was not cooling. An evacuation of freon revealed a leak in the system at the high side valve, (the schrader valve core was leaking). A vacuum was pulled and the system held at negative 24 pressure. The schrader valve core was correctly replaced and correct level of freon re-filled. What would be the right sequence of procedures to check this system out to restore it to very effective cold operation? Thank you for your insight and help! tkell
