They look great Sam. Thanks for taking the time to explain. I wondered what my idea would look like realized and now thanks to you... I know! I'm thinking of actually painting the whole "hoop" of the rims when I do mine, (not just the lip) using an aluminum looking silver and then matching the tri-star center color to a set of the older originals I have, then urethane clearing the whole shebang. It'll be a bit tricky establishing a point to seperate the two colors where the "spoke" meets the rim, but I think I've got it figured.

Once I figure a good tire combo to go with, I'll go ahead and dismount and paint the rims. I've got to be pretty exacting with my tire choice. I've got an '88 vert. sitting on SPG springs. To make things really tricky, I've got the Carlsson body kit on the car with the original Carlsson flares. Although it looks great, I never really gave much thought to how prone to bottoming out the front bumper is! My driveway pitches up just slightly from the road. When I pull in the driveway I can't have anyone in the car with me, I move at a snail's crawl, I have to approach it at a 45% angle , and I clear my driveway by one inch with the front bumper's bottom edge! Problem is: I still have the "throw-away" tires that came on my super aeros when I bought them used from a guy. I wanted to go with a lower profile tire but that will only worsen my ground clearance problems, (and I'm not moving anytime soon to a house with a flatter driveway!) If the "throw-away" tires that are on there now don't give me any clearance issues with the flares over bumps, I guess I'll just stick with that tire size. (yes, I did the axle relocation thing). I'm almost finished with the complete resto of this car and haven't driven the car anywhere other than my driveway or the street in front of my house. I'm in a bit of a pickle here on this tire thing. Once I sort that out, like I said, I'll be painting my rims too! Wish me luck.....Bob T. PS: If I knew how to post a pic here I would......BT
