So I was actively bidding on the car up to about 12K. Had arranged classic car financing through a Hagerty Insurance Co. affiliate as Hagerty insures a couple of classic BMW's for me. After speaking with the dealer, I had anticipated the reserve to be at about 18K give or take 1K.

So I ask the dealer contact for two specific sets of photos, one each of both the front dash speaker grills and one of the upper center part of the rear seat as both the dash and seat look to have cracking/marring. Also asked if it was okay for an independent appraiser to view the car on Monday. Was told no problem on the appraiser and that the pictures were on their way.

That was yesterday at noon and after I had received an email on Wednesday which can be seen at the bottom of the listing assuring me that there are no cracks in the dash and that the seat is perfect with a glare making the photo within the listing look problematic. I know this car as it was at the conventions over the years and I had remembered seeing a dash crack or two so wanted to be sure. Still have not heard back...

As the days are going by and the price is shooting up, more and more little things are bothering me as well as other enthusiasts about the stated condition of the car.

The listing clearly states that no paintwork has been done. Seller reiterated that in answering a question that can be viewed at the bottom of the listing. It is obvious that paintwork has indeed been done based on the overspray and alignment issues on the right front of the car. One can also see the paint color difference from the front right quarter panel to the door. The dash and seat condition also remain suspect as well as the car comes with ZERO paperwork other than maybe the owners manual set.

As for me, I am done with attempting to purchase the car as now it getting in to too many unknowns. I believe the car will sell to someone that just has to have it. But as they say...buyer beware.
