Well, I have some morals
1. Always take the entire shifter assembly out if you have ignition problems.
2. Just because the key won't turn, doesn't mean it is the key cylinder
I finally got out my lock cylinder and the way I did it was to pull the shifter housing out. to do that I unscrewed the ignition switch so I would not have to reroute the wires. As soon as I did, the key cylinder moved easily, allowing me to turn it an press the button on the bottom. I opened the switch and totally corroded and frozen. It never occurred to me to change out the switch, which would have been easy.
Damn, now I have to find out where to buy the switch, I don't see anyplace that sells them. This part used to be all over, now nowhere! part #8567505
