Hey Aaron,
I recently installed a moster of a stereo set up but I am having a bit of difficulty setting it up:
I have Blau Alaska with pre amp going to:
Pre AMP Rear--------------------->Legacy 300w 4 chan amp-->REAR SPEAKS
Pre AMP Front--> Legacy EQ10:---->Legacy 300w 4 chan amp-->FRONT SPEAKS
:---->Legacy 300w 2 chan SUB amp-->SUB
I ran the power thru the speedo cable hole and then under the console. The RCAs are Monster and are ALSO under the console, is this the problem?
Also, I can't get the SUB to sound right, it seems that is not producing deep base. It cuts out after 10-15 of operatons b/c the "protection" light goes on. Everything is ground to the body of the car. The only thing that I am concerned with is gauge of the power wire. I think I used 8. I fitted connectors on the end of the wire and split it in the trunk (where all amps are, about 2 feet before the amps). I ran my own speaker wire to the 4 stock speakers along the other wires.
I mounted the SUB amp on top of the sub woofer and the 4 channel is mounted on the trunk lid, upsidedown.
My questions are:
How do I hook up the sub to produce deep but not nessaseraly loud BASS?
I have tried the bridged option but was adviced agains using it because the POS Realistic SUB speaker is dual voice coil. So by bridging I am lowering the ristance from 4oms to 1 ohm if I hook it up like it says on the amp (++ --) bridged in parallel. Currently, I have it bridged in a series (+ [-+] - ) but that stilll doesn't make it sound as good as I want it and it cuts out/overheats.
Sorry about the length and TIA
