I once had an '88 9kt. I also used to have an '87 900S. To my surprise, the 9000 handled better than the 900. While driving it, the 900 feels more nimble, but it actually has more understeer. Seems the 900 was more front-heavy, too. Biggest difference seen on downhill decelerating turns.
1. Some '88 9000 turbos had driver's side ABS. Not many.
2. It does not have a DI cassette.
3. The serpentine belt is not much of a pain. The Haynes manual tells how to deal with that. Mine had a separate belt for the AC compressor.
4. I never took the headliner out of my 900 but have in the 9000. Seems like it would be similar, but there's a write-up somewhere on this BB, which is the one I used.
5. I worked on both my 900S and my 9000's (I've actually had 3 9000's). 9000 is easier, IMHO.
6. Clutch: observe the clutch line while somebody pushes in the pedal. It may have a pinhole leak. If there's no hydraulic fluid under the bell housing of the tranny, it's less likely to be the slave cylinder. The clutch master is under the clutch pedal and is not a hard replacement. If you're replacing the line, it takes some patience to thread it through.
7. No Bentley manual for the 9000. The Haynes is widely panned, but I think it's pretty good. I've usually supplemented with stuff from Quasi and from this BB.
Have fun.
