Guzzling fuel with no power Posted by Peter [Email] (#2804) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Peter) on Wed, 7 May 2008 16:26:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi, I'm Peter. I'm new here!
I have a 1974 EMS that I use to get to and from the train station. (10 min drive)
Yesterday morning, about half way there it lost power for about 20 seconds and there was an obvious smell of petrol and a huge white cloud behind me.
I thought maybe the headgasket blew.
But then it came right again.
On the way home though, it was running pretty rough all the way.
The strange thing is how fast the fuel gauge went down, it was in the black when I started and 10 minutes later the warning light went on!
So I'm thinking (hoping), maybe it's not the head gasket, but fuel system related. Like the pressure regulator or something?
Thoughts anyone?
I have a D-jet fuel injection system.
thanks,
Peter
