Thanks, for the input.
I'm still trying to get my head around what's happening:
Did a test run last night.
Problem is no longer intermittent, but symptoms are now all over the place. Does not look good.
- Constantly blows white/blue smoke -smells vaguely of burnt rubber.
- No power when cold. Can hardly move, even on first gear. Still starts on first turn, idles ok.(funny, it used hunt when cold) Drivable power after 2 minutes, but rough.
- Checked oil. -Too much oil! (strange)
- When warm, drivable but covers neighborhood in smoke. Knocking noise from front of engine at revs over 4000.
- Fuel flooding seems to be on and off, -not constant.
All in all, looks potentially expensive. :-(
I will have some time this weekend.
Drain some oil, check plugs, wiring, etc, -but it sure doesn't look good.
According to the papers, the car had the top replaced about 3 years ago, shouldn't blow the gasket already!
Oh, well :-(
thanks,
Peter
