Where are you located?

Caches of two-stroke engines and parts are not _that_ difficult to find. A later 850 engine will bolt right up to your 3-speed, requiring only an electric fan and thermo-switch for the conversion.

For what it's worth, I'm in Wisconsin, and have two or three later mixer engines in varying conditions available at nominal price.

Some years ago, in the back lot of a New Jersey SAAB dealer, I happened across a'58 or '59 93 B with an intact factory sunroof. I would have (literally) killed for that car, but the guy that owned it refused to sell, saying he planned to turn it into an ice racer.

I couldn't believe anyone could be so callous.

Some of the responses here - as I'm sure you're aware given the title of your original thread - are premised on similar emotions. I vote with the 'don't butcher' crowd.
