That is one of the best Saabs made and they are rare. As for the year.. a divided windscreen means it is a 1957 93. In 58, they had the square signals as you mentioned. It is a strong possibilty someone updated the two fenders,to ditched the flag type levers.
Buy it and take your time restoring for it is definitely worth it even if sells for thousands. When you analyse a restoration, the cost goes into the thousands.( cutting floors, rewelding, etc)so the cleaner car that you buy then the less work you have to do.
As for the two stroke, the engine is for someone who can appreciate it and have patience. It makes those exploding noises, and blows smelly blue smoke. Yet if it is tuned correctly, it should be minimal bother. The engien is hIt is not that fast, yet why drive an antique like a Honda? The car most likely has a three speed tranny, and the brakes can be a bit more challenging. However, you can buy brand new cylinders for a 93(type 1 brakes) at Moss motors. Yet it will be listed for an MG TD. You will have to keep the old rear parking brake levers. Make certain to check the condtion of the gas tank. Send pictures!
If you love Saabs, this car should be a joy.
Good luck
