'just put deposit down on a '01 9-3 for 28k. i happen to think that the bmw has it over saab in the design of the cockpit, handling and it seems to be screwed together more tightly... however, i still bought the saab and i all exited.
my reasons:
i think the bmw gives a message of "this guy is trying very hard to be in a bmw no matter what" there is a negative connotation that being in the 3 series generates that being in a 5 series doesn't (the 5 series to me says, hey this guy deserves it and could afford it)
to equip the bmw the same way as even an 9-3 se, you will spend more than 5k more.
a saab driver shows individuality. it is a good bet he/she has thought hard about what he/she wants to drive. the bmw - automatic thing does not give this message at all.
