I don't know if there's any computer with those specs around (in one machine). USB 2.0, firewire 400 and 800, Airport extreme, Bluetooth, PCI-X slots, AGP 8X, 1 Ghz bus, dual 2Ghz processors (3 Ghz in 12 months), 64 bits processor, hypertransport and more.

About those tests where Apple turned off something in the Pentium and Xeon processors, Apple also turned off the Altivec engine in the G5 trying no to give advantage to any processors.

When you add a modern Unix based operating system (mainly open source in the case of apple), you have a hell of a good and stable computer. PC users will have to wait a long time before using 64 bits processors and using more than 4 gbytes of RAM. The Windows operating system will have to be completely rewritten and all the applications afterward.

Microsoft is trying to rule the computer world with their own standard. OpenGL, mpeg4 and Java are all international standard. Microsoft is responding with their own directX, media player and as of 2003 they will not support Java, they will have their own version of Java. Bill Gates once said that Open Source softwares are threatening Microsoft. As for Office for Mac, there is others alternatives such as Sun's Star Office and others (fully compatible with MS Office). This is one advantage of Open Source softwares (like in the Linux world)

Also IBM is investing 5 Billion a year in R/D. What a future for Apple's own machines! Apple is known for their well built products (ther's been only minor flaws thats all).

PC are very cost effective for low demanding task like word processing or for the internet but the G5 is playing in the workstation realm at half the price.

I don't know if the G5 is the fastest PC in the world but I am sure it will be soon and at that price it is a bargain for the power user.
