Well, if they though there was any chance of that causing problems which would make them replace the engine under warranty, they would never make such a recommendation.
The technology exists, and has for many years, to make an oil which will last 100,000 miles or more. Pricey? Sure. Acceptable? Probably not.
AMSOIL has recommended 25,000 mile drain intervals for over 30 years, and most won't accept that.
The manufacturing capabilities and tolerances today are far superior to those 30 years ago. Oils are far superior to those available (except maybe AMSOIL) 30 years ago.
If you are concerned, go ahead and pull an oil sample when you think it just has to be changed. Odds are very high that the oil will still be suitable for continued use.
I guess rings must seat OK, since synthetic is factory fill in Corvette, Saab, Volvo, Mercedes, and others.
