He attended the Univ of Florida's Levin College of Law. He truly enjoyed his time there, and his only complaint was with Career Placement which the school has since addressed.
He did his undergrad work at Miami (FL) because they were/are #1 in his field of UG study and they offered him a HUGE scholarship because of his musical abilities on the bass guitar. He fell in love with the state and thought he wanted to live there forever.
Law School tuition at Univ of Florida for a non-resident is less than In-State tuition at Univ of Michigan. Both are Tier #1 schools, although MI is near the top and FL is closer to the bottom of Tier #1. In addition, Florida granted him residency status after only one year which dropped his tuition by an additional 2/3's.
After enduring four major hurricanes in this first three semesters at Florida, and loving his summer internship in NYC (what college student wouldn't love living in Greenwich Village for the summer?), he decided he wanted to practice law in NYC.
His combination of a Florida Law Degree, NY Bar admission, and Michigan address while job hunting, may be the biggest reason for his difficulty in finding employment. If this Saipan adventure is not fruitfull, he will relocate to NYC and hit the streets hard to find a job there. He is also Bar Eligible (meaning admission w/o an additional test) because of his NY Bar scores in Minnesota, North Dakota, and DC.
Why Saipan? His fiancee is there now on a one year Judicial Clerkship expiring in early 2008.
